Study reveals benefits of plant-based products compared to meat
03 November 2023
Study shows that compared to meat, plant-based meat (PBM) contain significantly less saturated fat and calories.
There is a lack of information regarding the nutritional quality of PBM products. For this reason, a group of researchers studied PBM nutrition compared to equivalently sourced meat products in the Hong Kong market.
Differences in nutrition between PBM and meat products were evaluated through analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and two independent t-tests. The study conclusion is that compared to muscle meat, PBM products have approximately better nutritional quality, however – the study reveaks . there is still room for further improvement on production, consumption and regulation.
