OPEN LETTER: Yes to an EU legislation on Sustainable Resource Management
16 April 2024
SAFE has cosigned an open letter together with other NGOs, academics, and industries addressed to European and national decision-makers for an EU legislation on Sustainable Resource Management. This law would aim towards aligning with limited resources, address climate change, biodiversity loss, and social injustices. The proposed EU Directive seeks binding EU material footprint reduction targets, especially for transport, construction, and digital industries. It advocates for resource redistribution and social justice and calls for global cooperation towards a Global Resource Treaty for equitable resource use.
