Floriana Cimmarusti
Floriana is an international lawyer with more than twenty years of working experience gained in Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. She was born in Bari, Italy, where she studied Law, concluding with an Erasmus program in International Law in Salamanca, Spain. Next to her Law degree, she obtained a Master in Law, Economy and Politics of the European Union at the European College of Parma in Italy.
She gained experience in EU Law at the Tizzano law firm in Brussels. Furthermore, she worked in the International Department of the National Council of Architects in Rome as legal Counsel expert in EU Affairs. Later she was the Director of a Brussels-based European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG).
For family reasons she moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where she attended a Master in Laws (LLM) at the University of Geneva. In Switzerland, she worked as legal Counsel in a bank in Lausanne, and in an international company based in Geneva.
Once back in Brussels, she worked again as a lobbyist in a European association for the financial sector, where she was Regulatory Policy Adviser. She also cooperated with a non-profit organisation in charge of protecting the rights of working children in developing countries.
She is a member of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), representing European consumers.
