SAFE releases a report on food donation in the EU, highlighting barriers and opportunities

According to the 2024 Eurostat data, in the European Union (EU) over 59 million tons of food waste are generated per year.

SAFE conducted a study to examine national legislation on reducing food waste and its implementation across various EU Member States, in collaboration with national government institutions and NGOs involved in food donation. We used a questionnaire to assess the recognition and understanding of national legislation and to identify challenges and opportunities in its application. This report summarises the findings from two years of activity.
