Healthy Food Healthy Planet

In October 2025, SAFE, alongside other Brussels-based NGOs, launched a new project funded by Healthy Food Healthy Planet, a pan-European movement of civil society organisations and funders. Their mission is to transform food systems, making them healthier, more equitable, and sustainable, while phasing out harmful agricultural practices.

The project’s goal is to push the EU to adopt binding policies that ensure large companies are accountable for the health and sustainability of their food products. To achieve this, SAFE will advocate for mandatory EU-level measures to promote healthier diets, publish reports on restricting marketing to children and implementing financial measures, and collaborate with supermarkets to improve the availability of healthy products for consumers.

SAFE is taking part in the Foresight Learning Journey, a training programme sponsored by HFHP. The programme helps civil society  organisations build new skills and accelerate the transition to a healthier, more sustainable, and fairer food system. Participants met in the Netherlands from 20 to 22 January for the first in-person session, which provided an opportunity to explore future planning tools and connect with peers from different countries and sectors.

In the coming months, SAFE will prepare reports on marketing restrictions for HFSS products targeting children, as well as on food labelling, with a focus on promoting corporate accountability and advocating for mandatory policy measures.
