The Bulgarian Association for the Study of Obesity and Related Diseases (BASORD) was founded in 1995. Since 1996 BASORD is a member of the World Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO), and since 1998 a member of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO). BASORD participates as a partner in international and national projects aimed at preventing obesity and informing the public about the medical consequences of overweight.
