On June 7, the Commission adopted a legislative proposal for a new Single Market Programme, which also addresses food policies. Specific objectives include: supporting sustainable food production & consumption by reducing food waste; improving the effectiveness, efficiency and reliability of official controls all along the food chain; supporting policies to increase animal welfare.
