Back in May 2020, we welcomed the publication of the European Commission’s Farm to Fork (F2F) Strategy for a fair, healthy, and environmentally-friendly food system.
In this regard, SAFE and 9 NGOs (BirdLife Europe and Central Asia, the Ecologic Institute, the European Community of Consumer Cooperatives, the European Environmental Bureau, FeedBack, Health Care Without Harm Europe, Safe Food Advocacy Europe, Slow Food, WWF and Zero Waste Europe) sent a joint letter to Health & Food Safety Commissioner Stella Kyriakides on Thursday 8th July.
The letter puts forward our concerns regarding the lack of attention to food waste occurring at the primary production level and the early stages of the supply chain. We also shared several recommendations to enlarge the scope and enhance the effectiveness of the EU’s work on food waste.
