EEKE organised an event on healthy nutrition and social inclusion
15 November 2024

On November 12, 2024, the Union of Consumer Workers of Greece (EEKE) and the Municipality of Elefsina, near Athens, hosted an conference to emphasise the importance of healthy nutrition and social inclusion for vulnerable consumers. This initiative is part of the ESF+ Food4Inclusion – Healthy Meal project, which aims to create a network of restaurants offering affordable, healthy meals to vulnerable groups across Europe.
The main issues discussed during the event included rising food prices, poverty, social inequality, food waste, and the impact of the climate crisis on nutrition. National, regional and local officials, as well as project leaders and representatives of EEKE, highlighted the need for accessible healthy food and the role of scientific research in shaping socio-economic policies. The event was concluded by testimonials from restaurant owners in Greece participating in the network.
