EC proposes market measures to assist meat & dairy sectors

22 April 2020

Amidst the coronavirus crisis, the European Commission today proposed granting private storage aid for dairy and meat sectors in a so-called effort to help farmers hit by the crisis. the EC also proposed exceptional derogations from EU competition rules in the milk, flower and potatoes sectors, adding that such arrangements will be valid for up to six months.

The Commission still needs to win approval for the proposals from EU Member states, thus the measures could change. If adopted, these measures are expected by the end of April 2020. Read more about this here.
