Marketing of HFSS foods to children

The food industry deliberately targets children, selling unhealthy foods to them, using specific marketing techniques. SAFE is campaigning for legal restrictions to these marketing practices across Europe.
In partnership with Healthy Food Healthy Planet, has updated its report analysing High‑Fat, Sugar, and Salt (HFSS) food marketing targeted at children, calling for a stronger regulatory framework in the EU to hold big food companies accountable for the products they sell.
This updated version, released in 2026, contains a set of recommendations for EU policymakers to better protect children from the negative impacts of HFSS food marketing.
