We are glad to announce the details of our 2025 Annual Conference, which we will host in Brussels, on 20 November. You are all very welcome to attend it!
SAFE’s 2025 Annual Conference, ‘Consumers Come First: Advancing Consumer Protection through Research’, which will take place on 20 November 2025 from 09:00 to 17:30 at Martin’s Brussels EU, located in Boulevard Charlemagne 80, 1000 Brussels. This important event will bring together key stakeholders, policymakers, experts, and citizens from across Europe to engage in critical discussions about the future of food safety and sustainability in the EU.
The event will feature a series of panels on key topics for SAFE, including natural claims in food labelling, food waste, sustainability in geographical indication food products, food contact materials and sustainable packaging. In addition, we will officially launch SAFE’s new app to improve food literacy.
In the afternoon, discussions will focus on Food Contact Materials (FCMs). For years, SAFE has worked to raise awareness and advocate for better risk assessments and to find safe, sustainable packaging solutions. These efforts, including our R3PACK project, will be highlighted during the conference.
The afternoon session will exclusively focus on R3PACK project, a three-year project, funded by Horizon Europe, developing packaging reuse schemes and fibre-based packaging, which ends this year. Its outcomes will be presented by experts from French environmental consultancy (RE)SET, with participants from the retail sector who are involved in the project.
