Secretary General

FlorianaCimmarustiFloriana is an international lawyer with more than fifteen years of working experience gained in Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. She was born in Bari, Italy, where she studied law, concluding with an Erasmus program in international law in Salamanca, Spain. Next to her law degree, she obtained a Master in Law, Economy and Politics of the European Union at the European College of Parma in Italy.

She gained experience in EU Law at the Tizzano law firm in Brussels. Furthermore, she worked in the International Departement of the National Council of Architects in Rome as legal Counsel expert in EU Affairs. Later she was a director of Cooperation Bancaire pour l’Europe, a GEIE based in Brussels.

For family reasons she moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where she attended a Master in Laws LLM at the University of Geneva. In Switzerland, she worked as legal Counsel in Lausanne at the Banque Cantonale de Vaud and in Cotecna, an international company based in Geneva.

Once back in Brussels, she worked again as a lobbyist at the European Fund Asset Management Association where she was Regulatory Policy Adviser. She also cooperated with BelgicaNNats, a non-profit organization in charge of protecting the rights of working children in developing countries.

Björn Becker
Communications Officer

BBBjörn has 15+ years of experience in EU communications and event management. He’s from Germany and studied Political Science, International Cooperation and EU Public Policy in Aachen (Germany), Paris and London. Björn worked in the European ParliamentEuropean Voice and 6 years for Eurochild, the European children’s rights network.

Antoine D’haese
Office and Communication Manager

Antoine is Belgian and holds and Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European integration (Institute of European Studies, Belgium) and a Master in History (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium). Before joining SAFE, he worked for a French Environmental Foundation and for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris. He joined SAFE in June 2018 and has been taking on the role of Office and Communication Manager since January 2019.

At SAFE, Antoine is in charge of managing SAFE’s communication channels and campaigns. He also coordinates several EU projects, among which the Perma+ Module project.

Federica Dolce
Policy Officer & Project Coordinator

Federica is Italian and owns a Bachelor in Sustainable Development Economics and an LLM in European Law, with specialization in Environmental Law from Tilburg University. She joined SAFE as a Policy Officer and Project Coordinator in August 2020. She previously worked as a consultant in EPPA and in KREAB where she focused on EU agrifood policies and regulatory affairs, gaining expertise in REACH, RoHS and EU agrochemical legislation. Prior to that, she managed several campaigns for platforms of NGOs, specifically in the field of agriculture and environment. Furthermore, she contributed to the research of a book published by the Oxford Press University on the economy of cartels.

Julia Virtanen
Junior Project Coordinator and Communication Officer

Julia is Finnish and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and is finishing two Master’s degree programs at the same university, in International Relations for Globalization and Public Policy and in Multilingual Communication.

She has been vegan for more than 5 years and believes independent information is crucial in giving consumers the possibility to make sustainable and healthy food choices.

Julia is a Project Coordinator and Communication Officer at SAFE. She coordinates the Dual Quality Project among others.

Chloé Lebeslourd
Junior Project Coordinator & Communication Officer

Chloé is French and holds a double Bachelor’s degree in Law and English from the University of Tours (France) and is soon to be graduated from a Master’s degree in European and International Project Engineering. Over time, she grew more and more interested in nutrition, the environment and animal welfare and is now a vegetarian.

Chloé is a project coordinator and communication officer at SAFE. She coordinates the Erasmus+ project TAO, as well as several other EU projects.

Phuong Vu
Communication & EU Affairs

Phuong is Vietnamese. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Communication from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and a Master’s degree in International Studies from Aarhus University.
With combining interests in media and EU affairs, she helps with SAFE’s advocacy campaigns, projects, and dissemination activities.

Naomi Venlet
Communication & EU Affairs

Naomi is Belgian-Dutch and holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. She completed two masters in Molecular Nutrition and Toxicology, and Food Safety Law at the same university. By combining nutritional, policy and legal knowledge, she would like to contribute to a food system that is healthy for humans, while safeguarding the planet.

Baptiste Vancraeynest

Baptiste is Belgian and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and is finishing a Master’s degree in Political Sciences, specialized in International Relations at the same university. Eager to learn and to be part of a project advocating for the greater good in the European Union, he joined SAFE as an EU Affairs and Communications Intern.

Théo Tostivint
Communication & EU Affairs

Théo is French. After 3 years in a Literature preparatory classes, he will soon hold a master in European Governance from Sciences Po Grenoble. He worked as a research assistant in the energy field at Réseau de transport de l’électricité, but he is also interested in several topics, mainly dealing with environmental policy. He joined SAFE in March 2021 as an EU affairs and communication intern.

Louise Pilot

Louise is French and holds a Bachelor’s in Law and Political Science from Lyon III University. She studied at the University of the British Columbia (Canada) for a year before specializing in European Policy and completing a master’s in European Studies at the Institute for European Studies. Over the years, Louise grew increasingly interested in EU health policy and agricultural policy. She joined SAFE in June 2021 as a Communication and EU affairs intern.
