Floriana Cimmarusti
Secretary General

FlorianaCimmarustiFloriana is an international lawyer with more than fifteen years of working experience gained in Italy, Belgium and Switzerland. She was born in Bari, Italy, where she studied law, concluding with an Erasmus program in international law in Salamanca, Spain. Next to her law degree, she obtained a Master in Law, Economy and Politics of the European Union at the European College of Parma in Italy.

She gained experience in EU Law at the Tizzano law firm in Brussels. Furthermore, she worked in the International Departement of the National Council of Architects in Rome as legal Counsel expert in EU Affairs. Later she was a director of Cooperation Bancaire pour l’Europe, a GEIE based in Brussels.

For family reasons she moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where she attended a Master in Laws LLM at the University of Geneva. In Switzerland, she worked as legal Counsel in Lausanne at the Banque Cantonale de Vaud and in Cotecna, an international company based in Geneva.

Once back in Brussels, she worked again as a lobbyist at the European Fund Asset Management Association where she was Regulatory Policy Adviser. She also cooperated with BelgicaNNats, a non-profit organization in charge of protecting the rights of working children in developing countries.

Luigi Tozzi
Deputy Director

Luigi is a biologist who graduated from the University of Perugia in 1990. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of Quality and Safety assurance in the agri-food sector, gained both in research companies (University of Tuscia and the agri-food company EnichemAgricoltura) and in lobbying activities at national and European level. Regarding his expertise in Food Safety, he participated as an expert in food safety and risk management teams for Italian Health Ministry and Italian Agriculture Ministry during food crises (e.g. Fipronil, mineral oil residues in organic feed, African swine fever, etc.). He was member of the National Committee for the fight against food waste and surplus of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and National Committee. In the field of Quality and food safety, he is an expert in organic farming and certified quality productions and lends his professionalism as technical expert in the Sectorial Committee for Agri-food Accreditation in the Italian national accreditation body ACCREDIA.
He is currently teaching in Master in Agribusiness Management at Rome Business School, where is in charge of two courses: Agro-pharmaceutical innovation and new techniques for sustainability; Multifunctionality in agriculture, and a course on sustainable digital innovation in the agri-food sector at LUISS University in Rome.

Antoine D’haese
EU Projects Manager

Antoine is Belgian and holds and Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European integration (Institute of European Studies, Belgium) and a Master in History (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium). He previously worked for a French Environmental Foundation and for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris. He joined SAFE in 2018, taking on the role of EU projects Manager in January 2022.

At SAFE, Antoine is in charge of coordinating several EU-funded projects (under Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, LIFE) concerning Food Waste, Sustainable Agriculture and other related topics.

Federica Dolce
EU Policy Manager

Federica is Italian and owns a Bachelor in Sustainable Development Economics and an LLM in European Law, with specialization in Environmental Law from Tilburg University. She joined SAFE as a Policy Officer and Project Coordinator in August 2020. She previously worked as a consultant in EPPA and in KREAB where she focused on EU agrifood policies and regulatory affairs, gaining expertise in REACH, RoHS and EU agrochemical legislation. Prior to that, she managed several campaigns for platforms of NGOs, specifically in the field of agriculture and environment. Furthermore, she contributed to the research of a book published by the Oxford Press University on the economy of cartels.

Federica Grassi
Policy Officer
Federica has an Italian passport but considers herself a citizen of the world.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and a Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology. She specialised in food anthropology and body anthropology, after carrying out an ethnographic research period in Fiji on the topics of nutrition, sugar consumption, eating disorders, and healthcare systems. While completing the Blue Book Traineeship at DG SANTE and an internship at AnimalhealthEurope, she developed expertise on food labelling and geographical indications, within the context of the new CAP and the Farm to Fork Strategy. During her Erasmus at the Humboldt University in Berlin and as part of the EVS in a Bulgarian NGO, she trained curiosity and creativity, to turn the knowledge gained through books into concrete and practical experiences, while raising social awareness on environmental and social issues.
She joined SAFE as a Policy Officer and Project Coordinator and she is convinced that with the team she is contributing to make this world a better place, by undertaking relevant efforts and by positively influencing the EU policymaking process.

Louise Pilot
Policy Officer & Project Coordinator


Louise is French and holds a Bachelor’s in Law and Political Science from Lyon III University. She studied at the University of the British Columbia (Canada) for a year before specialising in European Policy and completing a master’s in European Studies at the Institute for European Studies. Over the years, Louise grew increasingly interested in EU health policy and agrifood issues. She interned at the European Parliament and at the European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) before joining SAFE as EU affairs and Communication Intern in June 2021. She is currently working as Policy Officer & Project Coordinator.

Clara Botton
EU Affairs & Communication Intern

Clara is French and holds a bachelor in Public administration and international trade from University Paris XII. She studied in the Czech university of life sciences in Prague (Czech Republic) and the università di Pisa (Italy). She became really interested in EU affairs while completing a master of European studies and international relations with a specialization in programs and policies of the UE in Aix en Provence. She joined SAFE in 2022 as an EU affairs and communication intern.

Maëlle Labomme
EU Affairs & Communication Intern

Maëlle is French and holds a Bachelor’s in Public Law from Caen Normandy University. She also studied European Law at Rennes I University and completed a Master’s in EU Law, where she specialised in Environmental Policy. Throughout her studies and volunteer actions, she became increasingly interested in EU affairs, advocacy and European environmental projects. She joined SAFE in 2022 as an EU Projects and Communication intern.
